The Wisdom of Konrad Most – Recall, ‘A Warm Welcome!’

Before the Koehler method of dog training, there was Colonel Konrad Most. His 1910 book, Training Dogs: A Manual, was many years ahead of its time. I’ve employed his philosophy of recall for many years (The Backward Run). Never correct your dog for running off after it comes back to you. This is probably the number one mistake people make when trying to get their dogs to recall reliably. I know it can be frustrating having a dog refuse to come, but getting angry and correcting the dog when it returns only makes matters worse!
