You shouldn’t have to whip a home protection dog…

UPDATE: Within two hours of posting this video, I received another fake DMCA takedown notice. This time the person is pretending to be Gypsy Stratten…

One of the qualities of a home protection dog should be their natural suspicion of strangers. For thousands of years men have trained dogs for guarding, and over time, through human selection, types of dogs came to be best suited for close-quarters guarding work. I like a home protection dog to have a good sense of my space/your space and ingroup/outgroup.

I’ve never had to whip a dog for it to have a sense of suspicion towards strangers. The right dogs already come genetically equipped with a solid defense drive and natural suspicion of strangers. Some types of dogs are famous for being so.

I can’t get my mind around someone having an eighteen-month-old dog that won’t listen when they tell it to leave something alone. By ten weeks of age, our dogs all know that NO MEANS NO! “NO” is our dog’s first word…

We are very grateful that our dogs provide real home security 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year!

See my post for further details on the difference between hunting and fighting. Home protection dog? What are we really watching? Hunting, or fighting?

If you hit a dog with a whip and it does not let go of the sleeve to bite the hand that struck it… You probably have a dumb dog with SO much prey drive, it’s lost all its good sense. This type of training is for chasing, apprehending, and detaining. Hog dogs or police dogs… I want a PROTECTION dog to defend, repel, and disarm the potential threat. You won’t be hitting any of our dogs with a whip and keep your fingers! “The only show that matters is the showdown.” -Gypsy Stratten
